Quick 1 week project to promote the Ne1 website could have done with a bit more development regarding the body type.

I wanted to take a simple graphic approach, but also with a striking colour palette which grabs attention.

Fenchurch Teefest competition summer festival theme.

My concept was to create a t-shirt which reflected the summer, sunshine, fun with a bit of childhood playfulness thrown in.

pretty straight forward brief to design a three page magazine spread, i chose an article about Ben Kilner British halfpipe boarder. Still think it needs tidying up but im getting there.

Techniques and Proccesses brief

A good brief this one, to design a puffin book cover for the reissue of Alices adventures in Wonderland. I took two approaches to this: firstly i looked at the illustration styles of Ralph Steadman and Quentin Blake and decided to try and use their chaotic styles to design a concept around the idea of a flamingo looking worrried as it is just about to be used as a croquet mallet. Still not happy with the layout on the flamingo, but its still needs a bit of work!

The second idea was based around keeping the cover in a style of the penguin covers of the fifties and sixties similar to Germano Facetti, using simple shapes and colour.

Brief 3 Branding

Just finished this brief, not altogether happy about it yet, i feel it needs about another 20hrs or so just to tidy things up a bit. Everyone was given a different target market and brand to produce, luckily i was given a luxuary health spa with a target market of young proffessionals with disposable incomes, so an excuse to have a go at a nice modern minimal logo, and a set of stationary. I have produced two variations the first aimed at a more eco friendly clientele and for the second i went for a cleaner more minimal style looking towards styling products more for inspiration.

First graphic design brief

This was my first college brief, it was a brief for the Create Democracy exhibition on at the moment in Newcastle. The concept was to represent any aspect of democracy that we wanted visually with the aim to publish onto an online competition site, the submittions were then voted for by anyone who went on the site, and finally the top 50 or so are being projected onto walls at the Newcastle college gallery space in Blanford Square, Newcastle over the next couple of weeks, as part of Newcastle design week.

...democracy by numbers concept, shows that to create democracy, you have to put the work in.

...spray your own democracy! cut-out alphabet so you can say what you want, where you want!

...idea that democracy can be pretty unstable, but is possible most of the time.

The first incarnation, layout and overprinting are a new route for me so these are a bit rough around the edges...but enjoyable so i'll be trying to get a handle on them at the next relevant brief, hopefully!
